I broke this clay jug by accident. (It appears in a couple of others of my painting.)
I titled this painting '“For Everything A Reason” because I do believe in the statement. And it also doesn’t matter if it’s true. I truly feel that as long as I believe in it, it becomes so. An example would be my painting process. I paint in loose brush strokes to create a more dynamic look. Because of that, some strokes can look like it ruins the area of the painting I’m working on. But I always tell myself it’s a sign that the area needs work. And the painting always becomes better for it!

The idea of this painting came from a bike trip along the Neckar river. On a calm and beautiful morning when we were just setting off for the day. We were at this bend of the river. I like the shape of the curve of the river from this vantage point. I titled this “From Within” because I personally believe our experience of this life comes from within us. How we feel inside will then be mirrored in our experience of this “reality”.

The visual idea of this painting came from during a bike trip when we sat next to this boat along the river in Stade.
I painted this in sessions to create a lot of layers of texture.

The visual idea of this painting came from a trip to Lucca, Tuscany. The scene depicts the view from Torre Guinigi. The tower in the picture is Torre delle Ore (Tower of the Hours). The sun rays through the clouds created a rather magical moment for us. The title is a paraphrase from the quote 'It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.' by philosopher Henry David Thoreau. This reflects my inner pondering about our experience in this "reality".
